PROBATE OFFICES UK - PRINCIPAL PROBATE REGISTRYThe Principal Probate Registry is located in London. The Probate Service which is part of Her Majesty's Courts Service also has main probate offices (Probate Registries) in Cardiff, Brighton, Birmingham, Bristol, Ipswich, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Oxford and Winchester. In addition to these, there are smaller offices (sub-Registries) in Bangor, Stoke on Trent, York, Maidstone, Bodmin, Carlisle, Carmarthen, Chester, Exeter, Gloucester, Lancaster, Lincoln, Maidstone, Middlesborough, Norwich, Nottingham, Peterborough and Sheffield. All probate offices are open Monday to Friday. Most are open 9.30am to 4.00pm, but there may be some minor local variations: (Opening hours for The Principal Probate Registry in London are 10.00am to 4.30pm). Enquiries relating to Probate procedures in Scotland are dealt with by the local Sherrifs Court and in Northern Ireland are dealt with by The Probate And Matrimonial Office in Belfast or Londonderry.
